Mike Pellegrino founded Pellegrino & Associates LLC in 2003 to help Indiana taxpayers take advantage of software tax deductions for capital equipment. With a background in computer science and finance, Mike found that his company was perfect to help in this highly technical area.

At the same time, the Indiana Tax Court issued a ruling barring taxpayers from using estimates or opinion to establish the value for embedded application software for tax reporting purposes. As this hurt Indiana companies that invest in high-tech equipment, especially compared with some of Indiana's neighbors, Mike worked with the Indiana legislature for two years to change the law.

Since then, Mike has become an industry leader, publishing many times on the issue, including the first peer-reviewed industry article on embedded software valuation, and the first in-depth piece on the taxation of embedded application software across state and federal tax jurisdictions. Pellegrino & Associates LLC has earned a reputation as an industry-leading embedded software appraisal firm. The company has been recognized as an expert by Valuation Strategies, The Journal of Taxation, CFO Magazine and Info Tech Research Group, the leading IT research firm for mid-sized companies
